Responding to Emergencies
Day & Time: Thursdays, 10:00am-11:30am
Grades: 9-12
Teacher: Robert Brady
Cost: $325 ($175/semester + $150 material fee)
.5 HS Credit: Fall Semester (.5 Health Credit)
Students learn how to recognize and respond to real-life emergencies with confidence. This hands-on course prepares students to handle situations involving cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies.
This class is practical and skill-based, with students learning how to assess a situation, provide immediate care, and determine when advanced medical help is needed. Training includes First Aid, CPR, and AED use, with a focus on clear decision-making in both minor and serious situations.
Students who successfully complete the course and exam have the opportunity to earn American Red Cross certification, valid for two years.
Parents stay connected through clear expectations and course updates.
This course is designed to meet the expectations of a high school ½ credit.
Students will receive the following materials as part of the course fee. Aid bag with medical supplies, protective eyewear, disposable gloves, stethoscope, EMT notepad, permanent marker, optical exam light, course completion card (emailed to student upon successful completion of all course requirements and valid for two years).
