World History Through Dioramas
Day & Time: Mondays, 2:00pm-3:30pm
Grades: 3-5
Teacher: Candice Spaulding
Cost: $235 ($175/semester + $60 material fee)
Students explore world history by bringing it to life. Through simple research and hands-on building, they will create dioramas that represent important people, places, and events from across history.
This class is highly interactive, with most class time spent designing and building projects. Students will also share their work through short presentations, helping them connect ideas and communicate what they’ve learned.
Topics may include ancient wonders, major historical events, inventions, cultures, and natural landmarks, giving students a broad introduction to key themes in world history.
Parents stay connected through weekly updates and project guidance, supporting light research and preparation at home.
The semester concludes with a “museum day,” where families are invited to view a collection of student-created dioramas.
I would suggest a computer for more research as they create specific shapes, and they are welcome to bring any art supplies they wish. The majority of the supplies will be provided by teacher: foam blocks, exacto knives, strong glue, paint and brushes, accessories from the theme, or miniature figures like people, trees, buildings. Other materials can be recyclables provided by teacher but also can be collected from students, such as cardboard, toilet paper rolls, plastic bottles, or pebbles/rocks.
