We will learn about Bear Grylls and his 12 different adventures all over the world. We will also learn how to survive our own world and environment.

How do we keep our own yard producing food to feed us and keep those nasty ticks at bay? Are mushrooms really that nasty? Is basil only good for Italian meatballs?! I’ll help you find answers to some of those questions and way way more!!

Building our pack is a fun thing we can start to tackle together as well! Have you ever had an MRE? Processed a deer for jerky? Made any jam with your mom for picnic?

Come learn many near skills you can tuck in your own survival cap to impress yourself and your peers! I know you can do it. Let me teach you some new ways to accomplish your surviving ANY adventure, TOGETHER :)

Wild and Free Art Class

We will be delighting in the days of childhood! Let’s explore ways to incorporate art and learning.

 A courageous leap into self-portraiture, making beautiful wind chimes, and tote designs!  These amazing kids will wow you every week or two with their projects. Kids will be learning to make weeknight dinner a work of art.  We’ll be exploring what being an artist means. It might be just sketching; it might be embroidery… together we will get our hands dirty and explore many new ways to express our hearts and minds.

We are using a book from Wild and Free to have ideas and input. Not all artists are alike!

Masterpiece Lab

Calling all creators, builders, and dreamers! Step into The Masterpiece Lab, where we turn ordinary materials into extraordinary art.

From painting, quilling, jewelry, to the messy fun of Sculpting and Trash-to-Treasure, Recycle Art, this class is for any kid who loves to make stuff!!

Do you know how to make flowers out of pistachios? Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own crayons out of broken ones? Have you ever made art just out of things you had that were sitting in your recycling can? Wind chimes? Window art? Tie-dye? Do you like to make your own styled jewelry?! One-of-a-kind FASHION!!! Alright! WHAT CAN’T WE DO?! Let’s make some art, friends!! Each week, we’ll dive into a new "Creative Challenge” or finish up the last week's designs. Intro to Microsoft Excel

Students learn how to use Microsoft Excel through hands-on projects that reflect real-world applications. They will build skills in organizing data, using formulas, and creating charts to better understand and present information.

This class is practical and application-focused, with students working through guided activities that develop confidence in managing and analyzing data. Topics include formatting spreadsheets, basic and intermediate formulas, sorting and filtering data, and creating simple visualizations.

Students will also be introduced to tools like data validation and pivot tables, helping them identify patterns and make informed decisions using data.

High school students have the option to complete additional assignments to earn ½ credit.

Family ASL: Learn Together

Families learn American Sign Language side by side in this interactive, all-ages class. A participating adult attends with their student(s), creating a shared learning experience that can continue naturally at home.

Students and parents will build foundational skills in fingerspelling, vocabulary, and simple sentence structure while also exploring Deaf Culture and community. Lessons include games, group activities, and guided practice designed to engage learners of all ages.

This class is active and relational, helping families grow in communication skills together while building confidence using ASL in everyday interactions.

Intro to Video Editing

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of video editing using DaVinci Resolve (free software). Students will learn how to organize media, build timelines, edit videos and audio, add titles and transitions, perform basic color correction, and export finished videos.

The course begins with structured, instructor-led exercises so all students develop the same foundation in editing tools and workflow. As the course progresses, students will apply those skills to a short creative project using a shared set of video and audio clips. Each student will make individual editing decisions involving story structure, pacing, sound, visual style, and final delivery.

By the end of the course, students should be able to complete a short edited video from start to finish and understand the basic technical creative decisions involved in video editing.

Students are able to use this course to earn ½ credit for an elective/computer science.

Music Around the World

Students explore music from around the world through listening, movement, and hands-on activities. As they follow a simple timeline of music, they will discover different styles, cultures, instruments, and musicians from past to present.

This class is active and engaging, with students learning through crafts, games, and activities connected to the music they hear. Each lesson brings music to life as students explore the people, instruments, and traditions behind different genres and time periods.

Students will sing, move, create, and play as they build listening skills, creativity, and an early appreciation for music in a fun and welcoming environment.

Stage & Sound: Performance Skills

Students learn how to move from practice to performance, building the skills and confidence needed for the stage. This hands-on class guides students through every step of the process, from selecting a piece to preparing and delivering a final performance.

This class is active and application-based, with students practicing how to use microphones and stands, position themselves on stage, and engage with an audience. They will also learn how to set up basic sound equipment, manage cables, and make simple adjustments to improve sound quality.

Unlike group-based music classes, this course focuses on individual performance. Early in the semester, each student will choose a song to develop and refine over time. Students will build effective practice routines, receive feedback, and grow in confidence as they prepare for a final performance.

Students should have some experience singing or playing an instrument and are encouraged to bring their instrument if applicable.

Sound & Soul: Music Jam Session

Students explore music through listening, discussion, and hands-on collaboration. This class is designed for musicians who want to grow by playing, creating, and learning alongside others.

Class time is divided between studying music and making music. Students will listen to and analyze artists across genres while also learning new techniques and approaches to their craft. The second half of class focuses on collaboration, where students jam together, experiment with ideas, and create music in a group setting.

This class is active and student-driven, giving musicians the opportunity to build confidence, develop their skills, and experience the creative process with others.

Students should have some experience playing an instrument or singing and are encouraged to bring their instrument to class (if portable). A piano will be available for use.

Automotive Care & Safe Driving

Students gain practical skills in both vehicle care and safe driving through hands-on instruction and real-world application. Taught by a paramedic and driver trainer, this course combines automotive knowledge with a strong focus on driver awareness and safety.

This class is active and skill-based, with students learning how to maintain a vehicle while also understanding the risks and responsibilities of driving. Topics include basic automotive systems, routine maintenance, and identifying common issues, alongside discussions on road safety, decision-making, and hazard awareness.

Students will apply what they learn through a driving skills course at the end of the semester, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate safe driving practices in a controlled environment.

This course meets Safe Driving Course standards for many insurance providers.

Students learn basic kitchen skills by making simple sides and snacks they can recreate at home. Through hands-on cooking, they will practice measuring, mixing, and following step-by-step instructions while building confidence in the kitchen.

This class is active and engaging, with students preparing a variety of foods such as dips, simple sides, and quick snacks. Along the way, they will learn about kitchen safety, teamwork, and creativity in food preparation.

Baking for Business

Students learn how to turn baking into a marketable skill. Through hands-on projects and guided instruction, they will develop foundational baking techniques while also exploring how presentation, flavor, and packaging impact a product’s success.

This class is practical and application-focused, with students creating baked goods, refining recipes, and learning how to present their work in a way that appeals to customers. Along the way, they will be introduced to basic business concepts such as pricing, branding, and product development.

High school students will complete additional assignments to demonstrate understanding and may develop a simple product or business concept by the end of the semester. We will take photos of your finished products so you can build a portfolio of products.

Students explore holidays throughout the year through stories, crafts, and hands-on activities. As they listen, discuss, and create, they will build early thinking, problem-solving, and motor skills in a fun and engaging environment.

Each month, students will work together to plan a simple class celebration and create their own illustrated story connected to the holiday theme. 

This class is active and creative, giving young learners opportunities to move, make, and share with others.

Movement & Memory: PE and Kinesthetic Learning

Students stay active while strengthening memory and learning skills through movement-based activities and games. This class combines physical exercise with hands-on strategies that help students retain and recall information more effectively.

Through active play, coordination exercises, and sensory-based activities, students engage both body and mind in a fun, encouraging environment.

Physical activity will be expected every week (outdoors if possible). Students with handicaps are welcome to join the class. Parents, please communicate your child's needs so, together, we can create a modified lesson plan.

Japanese Language & Culture

Students begin learning Japanese through interactive activities, games, and real-life practice. They will build a foundation in basic vocabulary, simple grammar, and both traditional and modern writing systems.

This class is active and engaging, with students practicing the language through movement, group activities, and role-playing everyday scenarios. Weekly cultural highlights help bring the language to life and give context to what students are learning. Food is a big part of culture. We will have food a few times in the semester. Please let us know about food allergies.

Introduction to Photography

Students learn photography by taking photos. This project-based class introduces the fundamentals of photography through hands-on practice, helping students develop both technical skills and their own creative style.

Topics include camera settings (manual mode, exposure, ISO, shutter speed, aperture), lighting, composition, and visual storytelling. Students will explore different types of photography, including portraiture, while also learning from well-known photographers.

Each week, students complete a photo project to apply what they’ve learned, building a portfolio over the semester.

High school students have the option to complete this in full to earn ½ credit.

American Literature: Eerie, Ominous, & Grimm

This course invites students into some of the most haunting and thought-provoking works of American literature, with a few classic British voices woven in. Students will read and discuss stories that linger, challenge, and spark deeper thinking.

Class time is centered on discussion and literary analysis, helping students interpret themes, share ideas, and engage thoughtfully with the text. Authors may include Shirley Jackson, Ray Bradbury, Mark Twain, Edgar Allan Poe, and others.

Reading and writing assignments are completed at home, with students expected to read regularly and respond to literature through organized written analysis.

This course is offered as a ½ credit per semester and may be taken for a full-year English credit.

Additional Notes: Students should be prepared to read up to 100 pages per week at times. Printed texts are required (audiobooks may be used alongside reading). A material fee covers printed short stories and a binder; novels are purchased separately.

Create Your Own Mythical Creature Field Guide

Students explore mythological creatures from cultures around the world and then create their own. Through reading, discussion, outdoor exploration, and creative projects, they will imagine, design, and document original creatures in a personalized field guide.

This class is highly interactive, with students spending time both indoors and outdoors gathering inspiration, sketching, and writing descriptions. Along the way, they will practice writing in complete sentences, organizing their ideas, and making observations about the world around them.

This hybrid Geometry course explores the principles of shapes, space, and logical reasoning. The instructor will create a Khan Academy class where students complete lessons and assignments during the week.

Class time is used to review concepts, solve problems together, and strengthen reasoning skills. Topics include angles, triangles, polygons, circles, area, volume, and basic proofs.

Students are expected to bring a laptop each week to access their assignments and participate fully in class.

In-person quizzes and exams may be used to assess understanding and support continued growth throughout the year.

This class is designed to strengthen and reinforce essential math skills through hands-on, interactive learning. Rather than introducing a full curriculum, students will build confidence by practicing and applying key concepts in a supportive environment.

Students will work on skills such as addition and subtraction, multiplication, place value, number sense, and problem-solving. Concepts like time, money, measurement, and basic fractions may also be explored.

This class is active and engaging, using a variety of tools, games, and visual aids to help students understand and retain what they are learning. Activities are designed to meet students where they are and help them grow in both skill and confidence.

This class focuses on key areas of the exam, including English, reading, math, and science reasoning.

This class is structured and practical, with students working through practice questions, learning test-taking strategies, and developing time management skills. Emphasis is placed on understanding question types, avoiding common mistakes, and improving confidence under timed conditions.

Students will complete practice assignments and receive guided support as they strengthen their performance in each section of the test.

Responding to Emergencies

Students learn how to recognize and respond to real-life emergencies with confidence. This hands-on course prepares students to handle situations involving cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies.

This class is practical and skill-based, with students learning how to assess a situation, provide immediate care, and determine when advanced medical help is needed. Training includes First Aid, CPR, and AED use, with a focus on clear decision-making in both minor and serious situations.

Students who successfully complete the course and exam have the opportunity to earn American Red Cross certification, valid for two years.
